BLESSING OF THE ANNIMALS

Our congregation is planning a special event on Saturday, October 4 (rain date October 11) at Station Pizzeria in Mocksville.  Individuals may bring their pet to 185 North Main Street from 9:00 AM until noon.  Pastor Stacey Brady will bless each animal  individually.  Treat bags will be given to pet owners.  Please make sure that your pet is secured.

THANK  YOU,  VETERANS

We thank all veterans for their service to our country.  To show our appreciation, we are collecting new items that will be given to the VA Hospital in Salisbury or to veterans in need in our community.  Our collection will include personal hygiene items, clothing, snacks, etc.  Needed items will be delivered in early November.

Bookbag Give-A-Way

Our 3rd annual Bookbag Give-A-Way was a tremendous success.  We gave away 91 school-age appropriate bookbags (K-12) and 5 preschool bookbags.  We appreciate everyone that sponsored bookbags.  A very special thanks to members of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension for their generous sponsorship.

Annual Food Drive

Our 4th annual Youth Sponsored Food Drive was a wonderful success.  Thanks to a Thrivent card and other donations,  the youth shopped for food items that were given to Our Daily Bread Food Pantry and Storehouse for Jesus.

Paper products were donated to Our Daily Bread Food Pantry.  Our donation included 180 rolls of toilet tissue, 60 rolls of paper towels, 210 diapers, and other personal hygiene items.

Holy Cross continues to collect blankets, pairs of gloves, hats, and other items for the homeless in Davie County.

“Buzy Hands” meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month to work on various projects.  Currently their time together includes a book study of The Gift Of Years by Joan Chittister.

Thanks to a Thrivent Action Team card, we are able to prepare and deliver meals to the residents of a Group Home in Mocksville.  We share not only food but wonderful fellowship to these sweet people.

SOCKTOBER

During the month of October, members of Holy Cross collect socks and underwear for children in our area.  These are given to agencies in Davie County helping needy children and their families.

“Please Read To Me” was a great success.  We were able to donate 450 new or gently used books to Mocksville Elementary, Cornatzer Elementary, and Davie Pregnancy Center.  Each book will be given to a child to keep and hopefully encourage a love for reading.
